Mayor Tom Leppert and key Dallas City Council members on Monday cautiously accepted a conciliatory letter from real estate mogul Harlan Crow, whose campaign against a planned convention center hotel had for months alternately painted hotel backers as arrogant, unaccountable and outright liars.
“As I have done since becoming mayor, I want to work with everyone to make this a better city. We know that great things happen in Dallas when we move past our differences and come together to move our city forward,” Leppert said Monday.
In a Monday letter addressed to Leppert and also sent to council members, Crow tells the mayor: “Over the last 20 years, we have had a good mutual friendship and it is my hope that despite the heat of the election that friendship can be restored, maintained and enhanced.”
